Michael Brandman is an acclaimed motion picture and television producer, screenwriter, and New York Times best selling author.
His novels, KILLING THE BLUES, FOOL ME TWICE, and DAMNED IF YOU DO, based on characters created by the late Robert B. Parker in his Jesse Stone books, are all New York Times best sellers.
The revised edition of his first Buddy Steel novel, MISSING PERSONS, was released in August, 2018, as was his second Buddy Steel novel, ONE ON ONE.
The third Buddy Steel novel, WILD CARD, is currently on sale.
The fourth in the series, FORCE FIELD, will be released in May, 2020.
Mr. Brandman and Tom Selleck both wrote and produced the highly successful series of Jesse Stone movies for CBS.
Together with Mr. Selleck, he produced a filmed adaptation of Elmore Leonard's novel, LAST STAND AT SABER RIVER, which ranks among the highest rated programs in cable television history. The duo also produced Jack Schaeffer's MONTE WALSH, and Louis L'Amour's CROSSFIRE TRAIL.
In partnership with Steven Spielberg and Amblin Entertainment, he produced The Writer's Cinema project for Turner Network Television. The project included Arthur Miller's THE AMERICAN CLOCK, David Mamet's THE WATER ENGINE, and Horton Foote's THE HABITATION OF DRAGONS.
Mr. Brandman produced the television adaptation of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's Pulitzer Prize winning musical, SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE. He also produced television adaptations of Sondheim and Lapine's INTO THE WOODS, as well as PASSION, winner of a Tony Award for Best Musical.
Among his motion pictures for television are three Pulitzer Prize winning dramas, Wendy Wasserstein's THE HEIDI CHRONICLES; Thornton Wilder's OUR TOWN; and Eugene O'Neill's LONG DAY'S JOURNEY INTO NIGHT, starring Jack Lemmon.
His and Emanuel Azenberg's production of Tom Stoppard's Tony Award winning ROSENCRANTZ AND GUILDENSTERN ARE DEAD, won the Venice Film Festival's Golden Lion Award for Best Picture.
He lives in Los Angeles and is married to the Emmy winning actress, Joanna Miles. His son, Steven Brandman, is a film and television producer. His son, Miles Brandman, is a playwright and screenwriter.
